DyspOra is a Hip-hop recording Artist/Producer, Poet, Sonic activist and Founder of the Playback 808 Kingdom. The nomadic troubadour was born in South Sudan and raised across various locations in East Africa until his family migrated to Adelaide, Australia.

Music became a key tool in breaking down cultural, lingual and racial barriers throughout DyspOra's life journey and experience. He began writing poetry at the age of 12 and had graduated to writing rhymes by the time he reached High School. DyspOra honed his Rhythm And Poetry skills by consistently listening and learning from talented artists such as Andre 3000, 2pac, Nas, Fugees, Wu-tang Clan, Fela Kuti, Rakim, Biggie Smalls, K'naan, KRS-1, Jimi Hendrix, Akala and Bob Nesta Marley. He would deconstruct and reverse engineer his favourite songs, dissecting the elements used to make it work so well. in early 2010, the young MC would write his own lyrics over the beats and began releasing YouTube freestyle videos weekly. It was during these sporadic garage recording sessions with local producers that DyspOra was first inspired to create the Playback 808 imprint.
 
Known for his Versatility, sonic activism and dynamic lyrical abilities, DyspOra's sonic influence can be traced to various different types of music, languages & cultures. Besides his life experience, he often draws inspiration from his favourite authors, filmmakers, and Artists.

NESS

Alaak Pager is a 19 year old African-Australian Hip Hop Artist known as NeSs. Born to South Sudanese parents, the self proclaimed Golden One grew up in Adelaide & Perth, Australia.

NeSs was reciting classic Jay Z & Nas verses by the age of 5 and has since been studying the Art. As he grew older, making music became more than just a creative release for NeSs. The PLAYBACK wordsmith dropped a few songs before finding himself on the wrong side of the law. He eventually came to a realisation that he'd rather be writing bars instead of being locked up behind them.

NeSs' abilities are enhanced by his inherent delivery of consistently raw and clever rhymes and wordplay. His repertoire of enticing flows, surreal bars and unique cadence make him one of the most lethal Emcees in the Southern Hemisphere.

MAJIIK

Mach 'Majiik' Kau is a 23 year old MC Born in Egypt to South Sudanese parents. Mach migrated to and later grew up in Australia, spending time between New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.

Deeply rooted in his culture of origin, Majiik is inspired to create by the passion to understand the nature of the world around him. Accompanied by the magnetizing and emotional effect music brings out in human beings, he combines intellect, rhythm and poetics plus old fashioned fun to share with the global community his story.

Understanding that his generation is in the most delicate position throughout history, he is using his craft to communicate and capture the story, to recite wisdom from the men and women before him, from South Sudan to the rest of the world.

EMAN

22 year old Emmanuel Deng also known as Eman, is the Co-founder and President of Playback 808. Eman is known for his versatile flows, electric energy and lyrical wordplay. Born to South Sudanese parents in Botswana, he relocated to Adelaide, South Australia with his mother and siblings at the age of 5. Inspired by Cassidy and Eminem, his love for Hip-Hop grew throughout his teen years and he found a strong passion for recording music at the age of 16 after watching Smack DVD Freestyle battles.

Samuel Elkhier is a 17 year old African-Australian rapper and songwriter better known as E L K (Ethereal Like King). The son of South Sudanese parents, he was born in Khartoum and raised in Egypt before moving to Adelaide at the age of six. On a mission to become one of the most influential artists in the world, the gifted rap prodigy brings limitless depth to the Playback 808 Kingdom through his knowledge, awareness and introspective ability to absorb & poetically document his often shifting surroundings.

 

Tormented by the constant need to express his emotions & thoughts on occurences his peers barely even know exist, E L K picked up the pen and began writing at the age of 14. Revealing his newfound abilities to a selected few amongst his inner circle, word got around the northern suburbs of Adelaide and Playback 808 came knocking. Encouraged by his cousin and fellow PBK MC Eman, E L K began showing up to Playback recording sessions. It was during some of these sessions that her began to witness the supreme power of dynamic group collaboration and friendly competition between some of the city’s finest rhythm and poetry artists and producers. Upon hearing his sound for the first time, DyspOra immediately knew E L K was going to have an impact on the culture and added him to the Playback 808 team at the age of 15, making him the imprint’s youngest member.

E L K draws inspiration from relative newcomers like Earl Sweatshirt, Mac Miller, Action Bronson, J Cole, Drake and the late Capital STEEZ, he also looks up to paradigm shifters such as Nas, MF DOOM, Andre 3000 and 2-Pac. He began making a quick name for himself with a barrage of online Soundcloud releases promoted by videos uploaded to his Facebook pages. Multiple managers and publications took note of the young emcee which led to multiple features on digital publications like THANKGUARD, WavyTrax & Off The Clef. E L K has performed his debut show at Playford’s Northern Sound system and was one of the youngest to step onto the stage at the Fowlers Live venue. When not working on his much anticipated debut album, the Playback 808 MC spends most of his time in school, playing football and finding new ways to further his craft. E L K’s quick musical transcendence into local rap prince is not by chance, he is an intelligent, well spoken and articulative artist whose lyrical prowess and continuous need to grow make him a likely candidate for future hip-hop royalty.

AJAK Dut is a South Sudanese born Rapper/Producer living in Adelaide, Australia. Known for his electrifying live performances, Ajak's presence & energy is unrivalled. The gifted 20 year old began making music at the age of 11 and was shutting down shows by the time he reached the age of 14.

Ajak is on constant journey of artistic growth and refinement, evidenced by his growing repertoire of bangers. He uses a range of unique flows which he has seemingly perfected over time.

A born entertainer, Ajak is a promising young talent who can always be found working on his craft and technique, whether laying down a beat, writing his next record or leaving masses in awe.

Born in Bukavu, Congo, MUKEBX grew up in Zambia and Zimbabwe before his family migrated to South Australia.  Inspired by his story, he makes Artwork that takes a critical view of the social, political and cultural perspectives of African people. Currently focusing on the Injustice And Lack Of Recognition that Africans are subjected to in modern day society, MUKEBx is unafraid to touch on topics such as dead aid and corporate and economic neo-colonialism. His first Exhibition will be held in january 2016 at an Adelaide based venue.

LOrd LEVI

Leviticus (Levi) Amanamoi Otome is a 17 year Old South Sudanese Hip Hop artist based in Melbourne. Loaded with a range of attention grabbing lyrics and flows,  Levi consistently manoeuvres over beats with an effortless delivery style

Levi Decided to give Hip Hop a chance as a 14 year old, and in no time began showing signs that he may have stumbled upon his true calling. He subsequently Co-founded the Melbourne based GRMLNS rap collective with longtime friend Kong Kong (KAE). They quickly gained some digital buzz throughout the Victorian underground Hip-Hop scene which led to a short lived management deal and a few shows at the Crown Casino. 

Levi's composed, calculated and laid back demeanor allows him to navigate the mounting pressure. The Playback GRMLN remains poised and ready to deliver for fans and critics alike with his upcoming 'Mixed Breed' mixtape.
